Assalamualaikum and good day
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to welcome all participants and important people who will be attending the 4th MABIP Annual Scientific Meeting.
This year, Kedah was chosen to host this event and this is something that our team is proud of. Kedah is a state in northwest Malaysia, bordering Thailand and encompassing the Langkawi archipelago where the Mahsuri legend is situated. It takes about 30 minutes to reach Alor Setar by air from Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
The MABIP is an organization that complements other pulmonology societies with a common objective to advance the understanding and management of a wide range of respiratory disorders in Malaysia.I trust that the MABIP Scientific Meeting will benefit attendees who manage patients with diseases of the respiratory system that we see on daily basis.
Dr Razul Md Nazri Md Kassim
Dear MABIPians, friends and colleagues,
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to MABIP2018, the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Malaysian Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology.
This year, the Scientific Meeting is held at Alor Setar, Kedah. Some 30 km off the mainland coast of Kedah is Langkawi island, which is known as the Jewel of Kedah, the land of the mystical and legendary Mahsuri. According to local folklore, Mahsuri was a pretty young woman who lived in Langkawi during the late 18th century. Legend has it that she was accused of adultery and sentenced to death by stabbing. When she was stabbed, white blood gushed from the wound signifying her innocence. As she was dying, Mahsuri cursed Langkawi to have 7 generations of bad luck.
The local Organizing Chairman Dr Razul Md Nazri Md Kassim and his team is working hard to prepare a high quality meeting. As always, prominent members of the Malaysian Association for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and World Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology will be invited to share their insights besides local speakers.
The pre-conference workshop will deal with basic topics which will be useful to our pulmonary fellows who have just started their fellowship this year.
Apart from plenaries, symposia and free papers, the Scientific Meeting shall feature live case and hands-on workshop. We accept abstracts in the areas of interventional pulmonology, laryngology, pleural diseases, tracheobronchology, thoracic surgery and/or oesophagology.
I look forward to you attending MABIP2018.
